This is among my favorite videos just to stick in the DVD player, watch, and just pass the time. It is fun, light-hearted, and full of every little girls fantasy. I have seen this film a bunch, but today the following exchange hit me and it becomes our Nugget of Truth.
Queen Clarisse: People look up to us, and we're held to a higher standards of behavior. Can you try to grasp that concept?
Princess Mia: The concept is grasped. The execution is a little elusive.
Do you ever feel this way as a Christian? We are expected to live up to this higher standard. People (including ourself) expect us to be perfect, flawless, chaste, pure, unscathed, and to always make the right decisions. We know that we need to follow Chirst. We get that concept, but it is so elusive at the same time. We feel like failures instead of just failing.
Why are we so hard on ourselves, and why are others so hard on us? How can we live this life without the constant pressure of failure and expectation. I do not believe those come from God. God loves us. Nothing we can ever do will make Him love us more or less.
I need to think more about this. If you have any input please share.

I used to feel I had to be perfect. Then I realized I am called to be AUTHENTIC, loving and courageous.
Authentic is saying, I'm not perfect...but my Jesus is.

While we may be held to a higher standard, I think it is important for others to realize that we are still people and that no one is perfect. Thank you to the Lord for forgiving us of our sins. What a blessing it is!
