Gifts from Jesus?

Last night at small group I had mentioned that to be like Jesus means to love. We had been studing The Five Love Languages for Singles by Gary Champman. So my arguement was in order to love like Jesus we had to be able to speak all five love languages.

Someone asked the question: "Did Jesus give gift?"

We all had to think. Of course we all agreed that He gave His life as the ultimate gift. But what about more tangiable and less weighty things. Someone mentioned the first miracle of turning the water into wine. Others asked was giving the blind sight gifts or acts of service. This made me think.

Well, tonight in my thinking spot (aka the shower) it finally hit me. Jesus not only gave gifts, but He was the inventor of the gift basket!!

"When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted." So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten." John 6:12-13

See... the feeding of the 5000 may have been an act of service, but each disciple got a gift basket afterwards from Jesus :)
