I was so blessed to get to attend on scholarship the Purpose Driven Worship Leaders conference held at Saddleback Church this weekend. I have been a part of the Saddleback creative arts ministry for little over a year. It is the highlight of my life right now to be a part of what is going on in my church.

The last morning of the conference, Chris Tomlin led us in worship. How cool is that!! Also we had amazing speakers and workshops that challenged us. I went to one by the head of the creative arts department at Saddleback. It was on how to attract qulaity musicians. I was joking with him when I told him that I just came to see how he got me to play with him. But I was also convicted. As we got into the topic of paying musicians versus volunteer musicians... I saw that my playing in the church orchestra at times can be selfish. It is a bragging right and a fun time. I do not practice like I should... and just give back to God... what I have... instead of what I am.

I also went to a session given by Lincoln Brewster. Amazing and humble man. His teaching was on breaking the barriers between worship leaders and techs. One truth I got out of his talk was the importance of asking questions. I was so moved by this that the next day at the conference, I went around asking worship leaders questions about how they met their audio engineer, where would they go to look for audio engineers, and anyother question I could think of. It was a totally different conference for me after that.
Praise God for a wonderful and challenging time.
